Gentle and effective manipulation starts with a good assessment. That is what a skilled chiropractor does when examining a patient.
Dr. Vahldick, certified through the Motion Palpation Institute, Selective Functionalists Movement Assessment, and Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization, has a dynamic and gentle way for assessing the spine or other joints.
When a joint is fixated or stuck we utilize a chiropractic manipulation, or adjustment, to help restore the normal motion and function. Our techniques are based on current medical research and joint mechanics. This technique employs gentle pressure or a shallow thrust to restore optimal motion.
Manipulation is sometimes accompanied by a pop, the same pop heard when one “cracks their knuckles”. Neurologically, an adjustment will inhibit pain nerves, help relax muscles, and will improve feedback and coordination. Chiropractic manipulation is proven to be effective and safe for a variety of conditions.
In research, chiropractic is often the same as manipulation. It is not. Chiropractic is a profession, and manipulation is a procedure. Manipulation is the bulk, or even entirety of what many chiropractors do. ASJC uses a broder approach, but in the research, “chiropractic” is shown to be beneficial for a host of conditions.
