Licensed in Missouri to perform needle Acupuncture since 2016, Dr Vahldick combines this eastern technique with teaching from western medicine to treat musculoskeletal conditions. Dry needling is an effective and safe therapy. It is used to treat pain, from conditions such as arthritis, muscular strain, ligament sprains and nerve pain or herniated discs. With dry needling, a sterile acupuncture needle is used, thus stimulates and produces the effects within the tissue. Often times the needle is further stimulated with electric stimulation (see video below).
Dry Needling has obvious origins in traditional Chinese medicine, but was introduced to western medicine in the 1970's with Karel Lewit MD and what is now the Prague School of Rehabilitation. The manual or electrical stimulation of a filament needle (acupuncture needle) has a pain blocking effect, triggers a health inflammatory response, and causes spontaneous lengthening and normalization of muscle tone.
Dry needling is used selectively and after a thorough discussion with the patient.
